However, financial challenges in the late 1980s led to a change in ownership and a period of uncertainty. Undeterred, Greg Warne, with the support of Les Edelman, revived the brand as Kimber of America, shifting focus to premium 1911 pistols and expanding into new markets. The company’s innovative use of metal injection molding and commitment to custom-grade features set it apart from competitors. Overcoming industry challenges and relocating operations to New York and later Alabama, Kimber solidified its place as a leader in both handguns and rifles. Major milestones include supplying firearms to elite law enforcement and military units, and pioneering lightweight, high-performance hunting rifles.
